Stergios Emmanouil is a Professional Civil Engineer [University of Patras, 2016; GPA: 7.73/10 (upper 3% of Civil Engineering graduates)], and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) graduate from the Department of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of the Delft University of Technology [TU Delft, 2018; GPA: 7.53/10], where he followed the field of Hydraulic Engineering, specializing in Hydraulic Structures and Flood Risk. Currently, he is a Doctorate Student (Ph.D.) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Connecticut (UConn) and a member of the Eversource Energy Center group. During his stay in the Netherlands, he occupied himself as an intern at Deltares, where he contributed to the development of an automated error correction model, incorporating various machine learning techniques, currently used in the Meteo Dashboard operational platform. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TCG) since 2017.
Areas of Research Interest
His current research interests are focused on, but not limited to, flood risk analysis and evaluation, probabilistic design of hydraulic structures/flood defenses, as well as meteorological forecasting. Other interests include software development for various civil engineering applications, the efficient design of water distribution networks in addition to applications concerning the water-energy nexus.
