- What is the accuracy of low-power X-band dual-polarization based rain and DSD estimation in heavy rainfall and complex terrain settings?
- What improvement in rain estimation is obtainable from locally deployed low power X-POL systems relative to operational radar networks?
- What is the impact of the increased resolution and potentially improved estimation accuracy on the modeling of small scale basin flood response?
The validation of X-band radar rainfall retrieval over following complex terrain;
The microphysical algorithm (named SCOP-ME, Kalogiros et al. 2014) Is a self-consistent polarimetric algorithm, based on the parametrizations of the specific attenuation coefficients and backscattering phase shift in rain, derived by Kalogiros et al. (2013a), and applied with an iterative scheme to separate radar rays (Kalogiros et al. 2013b).
